Question regarding selling WoW accounts

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but anyway, I'm curious to see if anyone has sold a WoW account and then transferred it to someone's elses account, obviously both accounts will have different names etc but does the process of transferring still go through and if so, anything special that needs to be done and is the ban rate high for that?
