It's one of the most intensely debated subjects in Player Unknown Battlegrounds, where should I drop? Many think they know the answer, with many complex maps claiming to show scientific data on drop locations and loot probability. This all has very little meaning when you consider several things; the amount of battle points (BP) you want to earn per game, the amount at which you want to increase general skill, and even the amount of fun you can have during your matches in PUBG. Still, many players choose to drop in less populated areas of the map because they don't actually believe in the fact that these high population areas ca yield some great rewards. In this list I’ll check off four reasons to drop into usually densely packed areas and then give you those places to drop in.
More Battle Points
There aren’t an exact stats, but battle points are earned in PUBG through three methods; how long you’ve survived, how many kills you obtain, and how much damage you inflict on enemy players. Notice that the latter two of those statistics are linked to actually having confrontation with enemy players, instead of lasting long. The main argument against dropping in areas like School, Hospital, or any huge city is the fact that there’s a less chance to survive, but when you’re grinding for BP so that you can have a chance at some rare loot that should be the last thing on your mind. Those last two stats are more important, and dropping in these areas can give you the opportunity to damage more players and thus get more kills. This all of course doesn't mean that you just go willy nilly and shoot at every person you see. Three or four kills while still maintaining proper vigilance is key to dealing with these zones. Combine your guaranteed damage and kills, suddenly you can see that those packed drop zones can yield much more in terms of Battle Points, especially if you survive. But what if you can’t survive? What if you’re so bad at battling it out that dropping in populated areas is an absolute no? Then you move on to the next reason to drop in those areas.
Get Good
It’s a phrase uttered all to often in the online competitive multiplayer scene, but it remains true when talking about PUBG. Diving right into a stack of players and pitting your loot pickup times and aim against theirs is exactly what bad players should do. Improve your grenade throwing skills, Improve your accuracy, improve everything about firefights in PUBG that you’re bad at. Too often players focus on the things that they don’t have to worry about for the long term. You’re not going to win every game, or even near every game. The most I’ve won in a row is two, and even professional players can only win about five or six matches before inevitably they’re ran over out of pure bad luck. This probably means that losing is out of your control, and that if you aren’t going to win every match you might as well have some conflict which makes your ability level rise from pot swinging nube to M16 wielding pro. Dropping in these dense areas will only make that improvement happen faster. Even if your focus is winning matches, dropping in these same areas will still serve as an advantage during the most crucial phase of a game.
The Loot
If you aren’t into earning BP or getting better at PUBG, loot is the one other thing which should draw you to those packed areas. This brings us back to that map which I quickly joked about at the beginning of the article. As you can see, the named areas are the ones holding some of the best loot percentage. Granted, those percentages will be eaten up pretty quickly by the high traffic, but that doesn't mean you can’t get that diamond in the rough. What’s better, the quality of the loot in these areas means getting out of them alive sets you up for a good run in a game of people who are likely scraping for leftovers at the blue or non colored areas of the map. Another advantage of these high loot, high population areas is the fact that there are plenty of vehicles to go around. Save for the military base, most of the high percentage loot areas are likely to have three or four cars parked somewhere around them. This is also true on the desert map albeit some obvious differences in map composition. One of the best strategies is to go these areas, pick up the best gun you can and the best armor possible and then race to the center of the circle for some great buildings to loot and then pick off innocent travelers. Lastly, if you don’t want to do any of that, there’s one last reason to drop in densely packed areas.
Have Fun
Again, too much we focus on winning (which could be fun for you anyway) and sometimes don’t give ourselves enough leeway to enjoy PUBG as what it is; a video game. When playing with a group of friends or even solo PUBG is the most awesome when you start a game off exciting. A long winded victory from hiding behind rocks can be entertaining the first couple of times it's done, but aside from the occasional shot in the distance these strategies of hide and seek leave much to be desired. Start a game off right, kill people, and then work your way to the middle of the circle knowing you’ve gotten passed a bucket of people rather than hoping someone that has won’t casually run into you behind your hiding place. Dropping in dense zones can be some of the most fun because of the situations you can get into, including the legendary pan fights.
Where To Drop
Finally, you need to know where exactly to go. This part is less in depth because in general the most dense places can be determined by the amount of people dropping in your game. This is because sometimes a whole game can avoid the military base and leave it for two or three players, but it is less often. In Player Unknown Battlegrounds main map you’ll want to drop somewhere in Georgopol, the military base, Rozhok, School, Hospital, and Prison. In the more recent desert map Miramar some good and often dense places include Hacienda del Patron, Los Leones, La Cobrería, and El Pozo. So what are you waiting for? Go and try out the strategies I mentioned above and remember the four simple facts for densely populated areas; you’ll get more Battle Points, get good, obtain better loot, and more importantly have a lot more fun.
