Ever since the Pokemon Go category opened up I've been receiving PM's from users asking whether or not I'm speaking to them via Skype for a sale. I do not utilize Skype and have warned them to immediately block said person. They cleverly made the name similar to my discord ID and either chose me at random or are intentionally doing it to defame my character. One user in particular has been scammed today by this individual though and contacted me via pm only after their purchase.

Outside of placing a warning in my thread and profile in the last week or two the only other idea I have is to possibly place a sticky warning buyers to never finalize a sale offsite, only via PM on EpicNPC. Specifically for the Pokemon Go category just due to its recent popularity and of course ideally due to the individual impersonating me and/or others. All buyers have the sole responsibility of doing their own research and taking proper precautions though many become impulsive and don't.

This is a very common scam method for a very long time. Adding a thread would do very little. We actually had a graphic warning image in the side bar with BIG TEXT warning users to contact members directly on our site and it did very little to prevent these scams. Which is why it was eventually removed.

There's a certain percentage of people that don't read warnings and take absolutely no precautions before a sale. This is one of the reasons why there's so many scammers and why it's so hard to get rid of them.

We can add all the warning messages and tools to help members not get scammed, but if someone ignores everything, there's really not much we can do.

I have plenty of proof to show otherwise that someone has been impersonating me for a good couple weeks at the very least. Make your post in the appropriate category and I'll gladly contribute my end. This upfront attack is unjustified though I can understand you're upset. You're another victim to not utilizing the forum properly by conducting business offsite. I have outstanding feedback and do not conduct my business offsite. I confirm all details of a sale via PM only. An admin or mod will be able to show that I edited my thread and profile, revised a few times, quite some time ago regarding this very subject to warn others of it taking place.

Edit: Not to mention my business is related purely to Final Fantasy. Had you done your research and confirmed all of this prior to your purchase you would not have this dilemma.

Nocturnae has been strictly Final Fantasy XI. Next time you'll want to confirm identity through private message before giving money to someone.

Almost every seller with good feedback has impersonators off-site. Again adding a warning will do little to stop this.

We are planning on implementing some new "contact" tools in the future to make it easier for buyers and seller to initiate communications. The goal is to make it very obvious how to contact a seller.

If threads make communications extremely obvious, hopefully buyers will use these tools exclusively and this will make it difficult for scammers to impersonate a member off-site.
