Ok so no scam actually took place? Also I've never seen horde use a @gmail aim but I can't say that for sure, so for now I'm going to say this is an impostor unless you can provide me more proof that this was the real Hordefancyme.

Welcome to being a known trader bro. I've had about six impostors so far.
 
Also, to prevent these scams from occurring, ALWAYS <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="color: yellow">Copy and Paste</span></span> the AIM address in the user's signature and ALWAYS <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="color: blue">have them post in your thread OR PM you!</span></span>

The only way to prevent a scam like this is to verify the identity of the person you are talking to.

If they say that they cannot post at that time or cannot log in; simply tell them that they can contact you later, after they are able to do so.
 
this guy unfortunately scammed me of my account, the only reason i thought it was the legit guy was because i received an email from a school type email, and when i searched the email he used, it had good rep, looks like a long boring call to blizzard for me tomorrow.
 
and when i asked why funds were reversed he said "hahaha yeah i got you man XD" then i said..not really i just gotta make a call to blizz, which he replied "welcome to call blizzard and recover the f***ing wow acc

the guy is using a spoof email sending to make it look like [censored] is coming from my .edu email, I keep getting response emails from people every day repospindg to them, quite annoying

That's what they all end up doing.
 
Anyone who is getting these e-mails should be checking the headers and taking any IPs they can from the headers or the e-mail of origin. This will help track down, and possibly allow the e-mail provider to black list them.
