This method would no longer work because of the accounts being locked by blizzard for account > account transfer.

Here's basically what I've experimented with the account management system, and what sets off the alarms.

1. Account to Account Transfers
a. If you don't use the same credit card as the name on the account.
b. If you don't use the same IP address you used to login for the past 2 weeks.
c. If the destination account has a different first name or different state/city/address then the old account.
d. If the destination account has the same email as another account not related to that name.
e. The banning of the first account will result in an investigation of the second account, thus resulting in both accounts banned for buying/selling/trading.
f. The locking of the first account will result in an investigation of the second account, same results apply.

As you can see, all of these things have been setting off the new account management alarms. Once set off, the new and old account are both locked and cannot be used for play until you fax in 2 copies of the notary form for each account. So if you aren't dealing with the original owner, you better take caution and not use the above method any longer.

You ask how I know this, because I've had about 4 accounts of mine locked. Some that I sold, of course I gave the buyers refunds because I don't leave people high and dry. I've been using a new method for account > account transfers and so far so good. I'll share the method shortly.</div></div>

<span style="color: #FF0000">ORIGINAL GUIDE BY BONESHAMAN</span>

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Hey boneshaman!

I have been reeding some random threads on here and you seem like you got it all figured out. I am smart and wise when it comes to trading and almost scam proof...

But i have traded my old account for a priest and xfer'd the guy off about 2 weeks ago... is there like a time that the character can become unrecallable? i am asking because i went to log on to the other account and someone recalled the orignal account... </div></div>

bear in mind that there are many out there on markee who have more experience when it comes to these matters, so don't limit yourself to asking for an individual's advice : )

as for your question. while there is no set period where an account transfer can become unreversable (i have tried restoring an account transfer 6 months later for a friend), there are ways to make it more or a hassle and difficult for the would be recaller.

let me briefly outline them:

1) transfer your character off to another account with a similar last name - obviously, change the secret answer to something only you know (keep all CD-Keys for future reference etc...) <-- you have already done this step.

2) pay for the new account ONLY using gamecards (sometimes, blizzard will refuse to recall the account for you on the basis that the subscriber had a different name (credit card) than the account registered name).

3) one your character is safely sitting on (the recaller or transfer reverse guy needs to provide such information on the webform to sucessfully recall an account or reverse a transfer)

a) new account
b) new server
c) different name

4) now, call blizzard via their account management hotline from 8 am to 8pm pacific standard time and ask to change the email address and reset the password for your ORIGINAL account.

the blizzard representative will ask you for the following:

a) registered first and last name
b) secret answer

once this has been validated, request that they chnage the account email to an alternative email address you can access (DO NOT USE THE SAME EMAIL AS YOUR NEW ACCOUNT - as this is calling for a ban) --> get them to repeat and spell out the email address you provided.

now ask the representative to reset the password (this will be generated and sent to your email within 10 mins) --> DO NOT hang up until you have it and can login.

5) now repeat this step of calling up blizzard and requested account information change 3-5 times in the next day or so. your original account will now be locked for compromisation <-- this is good.

6) now in order for the original owner the reverse the transfer, he must first

a) call up blizzard
b) fax in his NOTORIZED goverment issue ID
c) file an unauthorized transfer webclaim
d) process the claim
e) engage in an account dispute with you on your new account

you are advantaged cause you have recorded down the following which you can provide to blizzard to prove original ownership:

a) CD-KEYS
b) ALL used gamecard codes --> keep a history
c) ALL passwords ever used
d) ALL emails ever used
e) ALL character information on the account (name, level, server, gender, race etc...)

seeing that there is NO WAY the original owner can get access to this information, you have secured the account and won ownership (he will be left with a blank dummy)

note that most people will not bother after they have recalled their now locked / banned account!

Good luck securing your account(s) - contact me for help / questions : )

Re: GUIDE: PREVENT "UNAUTHORIZED XFER" RECALL

nice
but cant you call and say something like i no longer agree to the tos and would like my account terminated?

thanks!

i guess i never thought of that method : ) however, i have heard rumors of people attempting that - result? they needed to fax in their notarized ID etc... to verify they owned the account before locking / banning / closing it. and there is the additional problem. what if the scammer was to call up blizzard and go "i now agree to the ToS"

much easier to ban the account? i will look into alternate methods that require less... time.

-Bones

i think you have misunderstood.

note that you are trying to close the account you no longer use (so it becomes a hassle for the original owner to recall then reverse the transfer)

not lock your own account...

-Bones

Good guide buddy, I personally don't bother getting the original account locked, but it FAR more of a pain in the [censored] for the OO if they are attempting a recall, probably something to do for extra peace of mind.
Thanks for the guide boneshaman, good read and your english is fine.

Agree with the above poster in that it's easier to just do something obviously bannable like open a ticket and ask how to set up your glider or say that you bought gold and never got it, insta-ban instead of having to wait on hold (it's 30+ minutes every time I call) 6 times in one day.

Hey Boneshaman. I recently bought a transferred-to account (meaning, the account I possess is not the "original" account the character was created on). Since I do not have the details to the original account, how would I go about securing my character? If I transfer the character to a third account, would the original owner still be able to recall it back to his primary account?

Thanks,

Vald

you could transfer it to another account then get the original one locked. view my GUIDE: PREVENT "UNAUTHORIZED XFER" RECALL for more information on this or feel free to contact me directly.

Any chance of you sharing that new method? I have a possible deal going on that requires me to transfer a Warlock off of an account to a new one, but I'm not the original owner of the account. I've had the account for 4 months now and the address has been changed for that long, so I'm thinking I clear all of the "alarm trips" aside from having a credit card with the same name as the original owner.

Ok, here is my deal.

Recently I traded a 70 for an 80 and 2x 70s + alts. Yes I know, a to good to be true offer, they usually are. Its 8am and I havent slept because I have no solid answer to the best method. I thought I had done enough research but afterwards I found out the user has at least 5 MD accounts, not linked by IP. However I could find no proof of scams on this user except once, where he asked for emails as a way to contact him and responded with some keylogger. Although theres no posts of complaints of this user recalling accounts(that I can find in 6 months of the available search, also why was this limited? its frustrating), the multiple accounts and the keylogger scare me that he is capable and probably will do a recall.

However right now I believe I am at advantage. The OO of the account I traded works for MD, although I believe I have necessary info required to recover it. However, I would prefer not to touch it and get away with this too good to be true trade(if possible).

I wanted to do an account to account transfer, this was until I read about the issues with that and recall being able to recover transfered characters and get that account banned. So this is where im lost. What I have is a full set of cd keys and a 2 month game card, I would transfer them if there is a up to date working method. However after reading through the posts it seems like that option is gone. I also have blizzard authenticators if those could help in any way.

Right now: I have full info assuming the last name is correct, email is changed to something he doesnt know. He has only the login info and a email change. The main problem is I already put $25 into a xfer for my character that I traded him so that is a month I would have to wait if I just reversed the trade(well... and 25 down the drain), this is why I would prefer to keep the characters I received if possible.

Suggestions?
