This imposter or so-called imposter has cost the members of MD tens of thousands of dollars in account and other services. You cannot freaking tell me that "the real " codo should not be posting on this crap. CHANGE YOUR NAME, ICQ is the first thing and all the money you have made from your MD sales, you should have your name in blue and your MD un/ aim changed. You can still keep your buy/sell thread. I'd sign your petition. This really is getting way out of hand, all over a simple AIM change. As for ignorance... mind you that a lot of the members on these boards are young teenagers looking to buy accounts with their parent's money/paypal.
When I first came to sell my account, I was offered (on three different occasions) large sums of money that turned out to be scams. I was lucky someone was nice enough to point them out to me because I believed that the people on these boards were honest, truthful, and not here to scam. Think of me as naive, but I have learned a lot since then, and this isn't an excuse anymore.
At some point, you have to realize that it's the responsibility of the person who owns the AIM rather than the people who are abused. Codo opens these threads, has people post on them, and the impostor is contacting them. That is how this is working, and why people are getting screwed. He should take the initiative to change his AIM or make clear notices all over his threads.

I had the displeasure of speaking directly to the guy who is doing the name cloning on Codo and multiple others.
I found out exactly what happens to the accounts once they are in his hands.
I myself almost became involved in a trade with the faker,

Now that codo's name has been changed,

I was scammed by this guy as I'm new to MD and saw his rep. I DID check his email and DIDN'T NOTICE the difference, I've been very tired and stressed lately as all previous sales had gone wrong. What really doesn't solve these problems is selfishness, not ignorance it seems, because you were 'smart' or 'wise' enough to avoid such scams, people who get scammed either deserve it or should have checked.
The real ignorance is ignoring this problem and assuming others 'too stupid' to see through it. I'm an intellegent guy and I risked it due to the stress of an already nearly trustless market.
The sad thing is we can normally get our accounts back but what about the teenagers spending half their savings on a wow account and losing the account the next day, or the guy making hundreds of dollars a day out of our stress. To me it was the best thought out scam I've been put through and the only one I've fallen for , though I must admit I was preparing to send a webform because of certain warning signs, but ...
upon asking him to prove he was Codnekero, he sent me an email from the adress linked in cods profile to show he was verified and the owner of that paypal account or so I thought, but I may even have got that wrong.
I do have my account back now, but my email was of course change to something @gmail.com and my battlenet login was some random [email protected] - I was still logged in whilst he was scamming me so I mailed all the gold off the char and wrote a webform.
There was a level 1 orc on the account when I got it back in ratchet with 5000 gold in the mail, a bank character which it seemed either him or the person who bought it had used to sell all my jewelcrafting mats I had laying around. He vendored all PVE items that could be vendored on all of my chars even my alts. I'm not sure if the guy is ransacking the account for as much gold as possible in order to sell the gold, then he sells the stripped down account to someone, the origional owner claims it back, the buyer gets absolutely [censored] over.
So no we should not just think 'Oh good I got my account back' Many people who play wow are kids, teenagers, or just plain vunerable or gullible. It doesn't make them lesser human beings, we are all only as intellegent as we were allowed to be by our surroundings - and to think that these things do not affect us all is naive. All this distrust and bitterness in the market means MORE scammers. We do have a responsibility to try and get something done.
As far as I know we had worked out the guys name via a whois? It was in another thread.
It was Patrick something, but I don't know if its against TOS to name him.
