TL;DR Seller sold me a stolen LOTRO account, received "reset password requests" just ~9 hours after confirming the account to the seller. 6 days later the account was recovered. Seller failed to provide a suitable replacement account or refund after exactly 2 weeks of waiting since recovery and then finally blocked me on Discord, solidifying the blatant intentions of the seller's scam.
A complete timeline of the events below (all in GMT+10 timezone);
1st of April - 1:26 AM - Contacted seller via Discord.
1st of April - 8:17 PM - Payment sent to seller via Crypto.
1st of April - 10:03 PM - Crypto payment complete, seller was advised.
1st of April - 10:09 PM - Seller delivered account details.
2nd of April - Logged into the account, changed all details as typical with purchasing an account.
3rd of April - 4:15 AM - Confirmed with seller that all was correct and described as per our discord conversation.
3rd of April - 1:54 PM - Received two reset password requests to my email address that I had linked to the account. Seller immediately advised via Discord.
3rd of April - 2:54 PM - Received another reset password request. Still no reply from seller.
3rd of April - 4:01 PM - Seller responded stating that the account was not stolen and that he "would check."
3rd of April - 9:33 PM - Seller had no update regarding my request, advised me to "..Keep and eye on it if it continues u get a new one."
9th of April - 12:24 AM - Attempted to log into the account however email/password was changed. No further emails sent to me after the original reset password requests that I received just hours after originally receiving the account details. Was very unhappy with this as the new 64-bit servers had just released and I had taken the time to reserve my names amongst other hassles. Nevertheless, seller was immediately advised of the recovery.
9th of April - 3:01 AM - Seller responded with "i dont recover" along with the username and password for a completely different account, of which I'm assuming was his proposed replacement. Before even attempting to login, of which I ensured not to do, I asked the seller what the description of the account he just sent me was - to ensure the replacement I'm given is equal to the account I had purchased.
9th of April - 4:12 AM - No response as of yet, advised the seller that I needed to sleep and to let me know those details when possible. 10 minutes after sending that message he responded with "sure!" (Just "sure!" - he didn't answer my question or provide those details..)
9th of April - 4:09 PM - Requested an update from the seller.
9th of April - 8:37 PM - Seller responded with "yes sendikg soon no worry"
10th of April - 3:09 AM - Requested update from the seller, advised seller that I'd like to sort this issue out that day if possible..
10th of April - 6:19 AM - Seller responded with a message containing the same username/password that he sent me without notice the day before, alongside the first/last name of the owner of the account, the currently linked email to the account and the address linked to the account at the time.
10th of April - 6:21 AM - Requested a description of the account once again, such as the account creation date and amount of LP on the account (premium currency).
10th of April - 6:23 AM - Seller responded "same with last one aroubd 10k (LP)"
10th of April - 7:06 AM - Advised seller that this was not a suitable replacement account for me, as the account I purchased (which had been recovered) had 25K LP - more than double the LP that this "replacement" account he sent me has.
10th of April - 7:12 AM - Seller responded "okay then wait!! np was mistake thought u had 11k"
10th of April - 9:52 PM - Asked seller for an update.
10th of April - 10:33 PM - Seller responded "yes i am lf for same account and also contact support to see what happened" - Seller confirmed he had sent in a ticket to Standing Stone Games (SSG) Customer Support regarding the issue.
10th of April - 10:39 PM - Asked seller how long this would take roughly, that way I can wait the given timeframe and get back to the seller at some agreed time/date - instead of me having to constantly ask for updates and only getting a few word responses hours apart..
11th of April - 1:35 AM - Asked seller again for a timeframe, it was days at this point since servers had opened and I simply wished to play the account that I had purchased from the seller...
11th of April - 1:49 AM - Seller responded "yes ofc. But rn i dont got such Account me need wait for answer from my supplier"
11th of April - 1:50 AM - I responded to the seller with "Alright - what happens if you cannot get another similar account?" I did not receive any response to this question for days..
14th of April - 4:53 AM - Asked seller for an update.
15th of April - 5:59 PM - Pinged seller on Discord for an update "Man it’s been 1 week now"
15th of April - 7:12 PM - Seller responded with "yes but need time u want play on anlthwr lta for the meantime?" While I appreciate the offer, especially from this seller who is basically impossible to work with or organize any concrete plan or timeline regarding the issue.. (cont.)
15th of April - 7:19 PM - (cont.) I explained to the seller that there is no point in him doing that, as any progress will be lost as soon as a proper replacement account is provided for me. I followed this explanation up with "If you cannot find an account soon, can you refund instead" - No response was given for days..
18th of April - 1:46 AM - Pinged seller on Discord.
18th of April - 3:14 AM - Seller responded with "i have one same in addons and 2007 creation date"
18th of April - 3:15 AM - I asked seller if that account had the same creation date (or earlier) and all 17 anniversary frames (specific details of which my original account I had purchased included, I didn't ask for the LP amount at this time, honestly I would've taken a secure account at this point with less amount of LP if it at least had a similar creation date and all anniversary frames).
18th of April - 3:18 AM - Asked seller to confirm if the account contained those anniversary frames, supplied instructions as to how to do so (in-case the seller did not know how, it's simply a matter of creating a character and logging into the game world, frames are either automatically added to the character or automatically added to the inventory upon character creation for those unaware).
19th of April - 6:18 PM - Requested update from seller asked him "Have you found out?" as I hadn't received a reply since my last message.
21st of April - 1:02 AM - Pinged user on Discord.
22nd of April - 12:14 AM - Todays date, 48 minutes prior to writing this feedback/review, I opened Discord to ask the seller finally to just refund the purchase as this has gone on long enough and he's obviously not interested in resolving this problem - just prolonging the issue until I'm assuming he thinks that I'll just forget about it? - Seller had blocked me on Discord at some point between my last message yesterday at 1AM and now. I sent a separate message here on EpicNPC to the seller via PM while he was online still, hoping to receive any reply at all: "Hello, you blocked me on Disc after the account you sold me was recovered. Assuming this is a mistake, please let me know immediately while you're online. If I receive no response from you, a dispute will be opened here on EpicNPC. You've had exactly 2 weeks to find a replacement account for me since it was recovered."
As such, I've received no reply while he was online, I had written out this feedback/review in the meantime.
Blatant scam, should have listened to the previous feedback noted on the sellers profile before purchase. Half a month of time wasted dealing with this individual.
