The account can still be re-called. Rumor has it that having some of the original account info can get it unlinked from the battle.net account.

My question as a buyer only, is this. Currently I have two accounts. And I pay 15 dollars a month for two accounts (30 total).

If I merged both accounts and transfered over all my characters to one account. I will be a subscription fee for one account.

How will Blizzard benefit from this? Something doesn't make sense here.

From my experiences:
(some have been said already, just confirming)

I've merged three accounts and I've had no problems what-so-ever.

You CAN un-merge accounts linked to a single B-Net account, in my case all I needed were original CD Keys.

You CAN log into all 3 at the same time.

You CAN transfer toons between all the accounts.

What I'd like to know is, has anyone tried to transfer a toon off a b-net account to a non-bnet account with the same name?

Ya, that is wierd.

Considering all the money that's spent creating new accounts, buying CD Keys, name changes, transfers, etc.

Maybe they want to make it harder to buy/sell/trade?

Or maybe it has nothing to do with us.

Maybe its for the people that actually fill out phishing emails.

Who knows..

I think that this has to be a major part of it. Note that their login message is constantly saying "don't let any one have your password." They still must get a lot of keylogged accounts and are trying to minimize the customer service time included.

Ya, considering they have to employ more workers to handle the volume of calls from key-logged, phished email accounts, and/or recalled accounts etc.
As compared to the money they see from new account sales, its probably way heavier monetarily on the Customer Support side for Blizz.

And after all, Blizz is a business, they'll go where the grass is greener. This was probably the best way to alleviate both account trading and account theft.

They could link it, but it provides less insurance then the S q/a does.
Without that info idk who would take an account with no info.

hey ive never traded wow accounts just want to know what exactly should i do to ensure the account cannot be recalled once i trade for it.
i have a wow account that is not b.net linked and i am OO so should i link this account with a b.net account and then once i get a new account merge the new account 2 my b.net account
also what info do i need from the trader that ensures its under my control secret question last name first name cd keys email.
what do i do if he doesnt have cd keys/secret question or any of the above.
If the traders account is merged with his own b.net account how do we go about unmerging it and putting it under my name.
also you guys said that merging chars to one account only pays one fee so should i put my own credit card info on the account im getting before i merge it. also if the char im getting has game time but my original char doesnt have gametime and is running under a monthly fee would my account recieve gametime aswell or not. also lets say my curent char has only wow+tbc but not wotlk and the account im getting has all exp packs would that then enable my Orignal char 2 level 2 80 or not.
sorry if you guys answered these i just dont want to trade and get scammed

i read some of the firsts posts, and i recently had a scammer try to steal one of my accounts, when we exchanged information, he added a battle net account and a authenticator...

I called monday and got both the battlenet account removed and the authenticator, so not sure what you are saying, but totally got min fixed easy...

I just read this entire thread, but I'm still confused on the big take-away point.

The account I just purchased is merged to a Battle.net account under a name that is not mine. The seller (a mod on MD) says he has the OO's ID, and sq/a, etc. All the original info.

I have another account that was a gift from a friend. I have everything on that one except the OO's ID.

So, to make it simple:

Account A: Merged to BNet, not my name, assume for now I don't have a photo of the OO's ID, have all other info for the account and the BNet account.

Account B: Not merged to BNet, a different name from account A, have all other info.

I don't really want to pay 2 subscription fees, but it's not worth merging them if the account will be locked. I've seen reports here that it's been safe to merge accounts with different names. What's the consensus on this? Is it that we don't know enough about it, or do we think it is safe?

Thanks in advance, sorry for beating a dead horse, just trying to get a concise and straight answer.

I merged 4 different accounts, xfered all characters into one, and haven't had a problem yet.

I recently called Blizzard to unmerge a couple of my accounts from the Battle.NET system. I was informed by them that within the next 2-3 months that ALL World of Warcraft accounts -will- be converted into Battle.NET accounts.

Just a heads up. Trying to get this in an e-mail or callback to have it recorded. Anyhow, free bump for an awesome thread.

QUESTION! I'm so confused. My buddy told me you cant xfer from bnet to a normal account without removing it from bnet. Is this true?

I have a question... just say I bought an account thats already Bnet merged, would it be possible to buy new cd keys make an account under my name. Merge the newly made account to the bought Bnet account then transfer the toon to my account. Then remove the account I made from the Bnet account while keeping the xfered toon on it?.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I currently have a good friend testing the system as he just merge two "dead" accounts together -- both of the accounts had different names on the accounts. I will keep everyone in the loop about what happens to his accounts.</div></div>

Did anything ever come of this?
I would love to hear how it went, if Blizz did anything to either account.

BNet accounts sound to me like a complete [censored] for buying and selling accounts.
It "could" be good for the buyer if they can add multiple accounts and have them in their name, but as you've said it's horrible for the seller as people can do this and basically steal accounts.

Bout to find out tomorrow or sometime really soon if you can un-link a WoW account from bnet because I was just scammed when all I gave was the username and password.

It a real shame that is all the information needed on an account for someone to link it to their bnet account.

I mean hell as a seller as I was doing was allowing the buyer to log in and verify all the characters before finalizing the purchase.

Ugh, hopefully all goes well as I have full info on the account including all CDkeys.

I have a legit question.

I trade my Account, I am going to get new CD keys to xfer the toon off the account ( that i traded for ) It is a Bnet account.

When i make the 1st account Does it have to have the same name as the account i traded for?

IE. say the account i traded for org name is Jane Doe and the Battle net name is Jane Doe. When i make the New account Does the Org name and the new Bnet name have to be Jane doe??

Hey Guys,

i bought an account a while back. All the details for the account, like postal address and what not is in the US and im in Australia. Ive never changed any details on the account.

If I create a Battle.net account should i create it as a US account with all the same address info or should I create as Australia account with new address info as to not give obvious IP address flags.

Would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

Okay, this may have been asked before, but that was WAY too much for me to read through...

I'm buying a World of Warcraft account that is not currently associated with a Battle.Net account.

When I create a new Battle.Net account to merge with the WoW account, should the BNet info be registered as my real information, or the information of the previous owner?

I'm asking this because I'm afraid of getting banned... I do not have to worry about getting scammed or recalling this account in the future because I am 100% positive that the guy I am trading with is legit, and I do not plan to sell this account in the future.
