---------------------------------------------------

Note the sections in red in the picture below, it's straight from Blizzard's page.

* I had two WoW accounts with different owner details, one was my own and the other was a friends.

* I then made TWO Battle.net accounts in MY name.

* I then changed the ADDRESS (but not name, birthdate etc) of the non-mine WoW account to match MY address (so it looks a bit more legit when I merge with a Battle.net acc with my address).

* I then MERGED these TWO WoW accounts into these TWO separate Battle.net accounts (remember, the Battle.net accounts are BOTH in my name).

* What I want to do next: I want to transfer some characters from one of the Battle.net accounts to the other, (after the 30 day transfer lockdown is over of course).

The question is, the text on Blizzard's page almost makes it seem like they're gonna check the ORIGINAL OWNER INFO ON THE WOW ACCOUNTS on transfer between Battle.net accounts, and NOT the owner info on the BATTLE.NET ACCOUNTS.

I'm trying to understand if it's saying that the new Battle.net accounts must be in the same last name, or that the ORIGINAL WoW accounts must be in the same last name. See this section:

"Once merged, a World of Warcraft account can only transfer to and from other merged WoW accounts. In addition, the accounts must be registered under the same last name." sounds like it has been restricted so the same owner has to be on both the WoW accounts, and that it's not a Battle.net owner check, and that the only way to transfer between two WoW accs with different names is to merge them both to the same Battle.net acc.

Does anyone know the answer? I hope they're only going to check the Battle.net owner info.

See further highlighting in the image:

Aslong as the original account is battle netted, yes.

Thanks for all the responses!

For anyone else wondering, I found someone that actually did this:

No problems yet.

Re: Battle.net -- Paid Character Transfer Restrictions for Battle.net Accou

I also found something interested posted in 2006, of course there is NOTHING to back it up and it can be a lie, but interesting nonetheless.

He says that the devs don't give a damn about who PAYS for an account (the subscription), and don't care much about who PLAYS ON IT (ie a whole family). They ONLY care when the accounts are being sold, that's when they get pissed off. Of course he doesn't have any proof that he really did hear this from a dev, but read it anyway:

Okay, here it is from one of my old guildies who is a dev. No you can't transfer the name of the original owner. You can change the address and phone number only by phone call. But never the name.

Blizzard doesn't give 2 sh*ts about who is paying for the account, let alone who is playing it. But selling the account for cash to another person can get your account banned. BUT never perma-banned.

Blizzard will always give the account back to the original owner no questions asked, even if the account is being paid for by another person. If the names don't match and you can't give them the credit card numbers then they issue the original owner a new password and cancel payment on the account, making the original owner re-enter their own card info. (did that make sense).

All this info is straight out of a very well known Blizzard Dev's mouth.

Even if this was true, it's old info (it even refers to the old rules such as no ability to change address, email or phone number from the site, all those things are possible now).
