Avatar file sizes?

I am wondering when i am looking at my avatar file size i have a 100x100 with a max 100kb. Then how is it possible that when i make avatar for someone they have a 180x180 with a max size of 50kb?

For animated avatars this is drasticly low.

Also why can we use ofsite signatures but not ofsite avatars? This way we can skip the max file sizes all at once.

You can purchase a larger avatar or profile size in the store.

Wow great answer ... we allready know that. Yet it makes no sense why a avatar with 100x100 can have 100kb size and a 180x180 only 50kb.

It was setup so only Verified member had the 100kb limit. Everyone else had 50kb.

I updated it to include the store items, so if someone buys the larger avatar or profile image the limit is now 100kb also.
