Afternoon everyone,

Fiance wants a laptop again and wants to sell her desktop, so I'm trying to get a ballpark on its worth.

Intel i7-2700k @ 3.5GHz
32gb G.Skill (4x8gb) ( two of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231560)
MSi GTX 680 4gb TwinFrzr III (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127695)
1tb WD 7200rpm hdd
ASRock Z77 Extreme6 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157295)

+ A 24in Asus monitor and generic keyboard and mouse.

Thoughts?

The only limiting factor with that is the 2nd generation i7, and the lack of SSD.

The best way to get proper value will be to sell it with 16gb ram, and without the monitor. You can the RAM and monitor separately or as addons. You can likely get around $800 for the desktop and another 100-200 for the monitor depending on the model.

Just a disclaimer I frequently buy and sell, but the prices will be dictated by local used market value.

My advice would be to check out pricing for the components were they brand new on a site like Newegg, then see what they're going for second hand in your local classifieds and on eBay.

Second hand PC's definitely take a hit in value though. If you don't really need the money you can always look at a neat way of turning it into a home media centre. I used to have an old laptop that I used to stream my movies to and encode them on the fly to my Xbox 360. Stuff like that's always a bit of fun.
