So guys, I am going to be spending around $1,000 on a comp looking for some extra input from people who might know a little more than me in the hardware department. =)

I am going to be building the machine myself unless some crazy machine pops up prebuild that I couldn't get for $1k

the main thing I am not sure about is motherboards, I know I want DDR3 ram and am going to want to run a quad core, whether that be a AMD or Pentium I am not sure yet.

So what would you guys suggest for a good MB? hopefully right around 150-300$

also, what sites do you guys use for buying parts? I always check out
newegg.com

Your going to want an i7. Amd is for budget builds most of the time. Also if you can wait a month or so Nvidia is going to release there new series of graphics cardss. If not look at an ati 5000 series.

DDR3? As far as I was concerned, DDR3 was still being worked worth and is supported/out there but hasn't gone mainstream.

I might be out of-the-loop.

DDR3 is now in the mainstream as DDR2 prices are starting to soar because of lack of production

newegg.com usually has the best deals. Although TigerDirect.com can also have bargains, so check out both. I have built computers for people in the past, so if you need help making a wishlist I can do that.
