Buyer claims their friend was looking for an account to stream with and they asked if I'd share the listing with them. Ended up adding them on facebook - conversation was relatively normal. They have similar mannerisms to streamers and the profile is older/has post history. Felt like it was too complex to be a scam.

Middleman they knew by name - thought that was weird. Previously a part of that big facebook group. After research and talking I was convinced enough to do the trade. Provided my account info as well as a video of me deleting the emails associated with the account. Felt like way too much work to be a scam, honestly. They had the account info.

After successfully changing the account info they asked to hold a buyer assurance fee. 200 dollars. I refused, of course, as I'm the seller and my item of value is already gone from me. They will not return the account unless I pay a 50 dollar cancellation fee.

It's so weird to me - it seems so complex and my item of value is gone (attempting to recover) and yet they keep messaging me.

Yes that's a scam. Try to recover your account through the game's support if you can and don't give them any money.

Being "complex" is exactly what they're aiming at. That's the whole point and what draws in victims. :(

Yeah I submitted a request to recover the account. I have a bunch of information since I've owned the account since it was created in 2011 (steam). I hope it works out.

I was scammed and I don't know how I can retrieve or recover the funds....someone kindly help me...I will be thankful 🙏....

I wouldn't trust any middleman on Facebook or Discord whatsoever. Those groups etc can be bought so easily and fake comments etc can also be bought.
It's safer to utilize forums like these, even those darkweb forums that amass thousands of users and have tight measures in place to not fake the review system. This way, you can tell someone is "legit" or not.
