Hi guys I'm buying a gaming laptop in a month a MSI gt 70 or something like that too lazy to look up the exact name but it has the GTX 770M. Anyways I was wondering I was going to ask xotic pc to overclock the GPU (redline boost) but the problem is that how hot or easily does the GPU get when its overclocked? when it plays games like BF4? Because if it gets too hot I might have to buy IC Diamond and copper cooling. BUT the thing is that the MSI laptop provides a feature called turbo fan which I heard cools down the laptop when it gets hot but idk if that applies to an overclocked gpu? pls help thank you

I would not recommend it at all. If the laptop gets damaged blue screen/ won't restart then I'm pretty sure that the warranty won't cover it. I was stupid enought to Overclocking mine because I wanted extra fps in games but I got blue screen and couldn't repair it. The warranty didn't cover it but I had a friend who understand laptops so he changed the gpu for me. If you want to Overclocking the gpu then overclock it minimal.

Desktops, I'd say overclock all you want. Laptops, I would advise against it.

For anyone who's concerned in the future.

The reason is in a Laptop, everything is in a small confined space with minimal ventilation, while in a desktop you *should* have good positive airflow ventilation (Positive Airflow means there is more air being pulled in by fans than being pushed out, that way excess air naturally escapes through other areas, rather than air coming in from random areas [This also helps control dust coming in, and further preventing dust build up which causes overheating]).
You'll always have heat increase when overclocking, but in a Laptop vs Desktop there's not much you can do in a Laptop.

As for Blue Screens, that will only happen when you push your hardware farther than it can go. People can push even farther by increasing the voltage running into it, but these are things I wouldn't recommend in a Laptop.

I have overclocked my Nvidia GTX 670 Ti without any problem. I have a large case, fanless power and 3 fans. Most important is to think about how air flow when building the computer. First time I did, I was getting 55C°. By adjusting airflow direction, I went down to 40C° !

670 Tİ ? This is new ?

Use MSI AfterBurner to track your GPU's temperature. Anything under 90 Degrees is a good value to be at.

overclocking laptops is retarded. everything is set up to run at its Volts if its overvolted then its gonna get pretty bad quickly. if you can overclock with no boost in volts id go for it but thats it. same that goes with cpu overclocking.
