Lately, I've noticed problems with the skype app which impact my business, but so far I do not know how to fix it.

These are the issues that I'm experiencing:

- Certain people do not receive my messages, but I can see theirs, and vice versa.
- Can't exchange messages at all with certain people (I don't see theirs, they don't see mine)
- Not getting contact requests from certain people.
- Some people who are online show as offline and/or I show offline to them (this does not effect the communication between us, only the status is shown wrong).
- Sometimes I can't delete contacts, they keep coming back, even after complete uninstall.

I have around 2200 contacts. These issues happen on multiple completely different computers and networks, so it's not a computer or network issue. Tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling skype and also different versions, which did not fix the problem.

Sometimes, when someone adds me, it "pushes" all other contact requests, and I suddenly get around 4-5 adds.
Calling works and almost always temporarily fixes the problem, letting us see each other's messages and online status for a few minutes.

Has anyone experienced similar problems with skype? I'm guessing it's caused by having way too many contacts, but deleting them is not something that I can easily do. I'm looking for another possible fix to this.

I've contacted skype support, but did not manage to fix the problems.

Is your skype proxied? Are you using the current version?

Have you tried the web version?

No proxy.

Started using the web version recently, having it on at the same time as desktop version, but only did that a few times and do not know yet if it actually makes a difference.

skyoe has been utter crap lately. my cellphone skype has all the same issues.

Same here. I stopped using skype for theses issue.
My solution: I use my own website with my own chat software...

I could see it being useful for large client base, but for overall the app is poorly made. I'll only redownload it if a customer/seller truly insists. Otherwise uninstalled.

Contact your provider. Reset modum / router / ... .

Do you know if this happens with certain country's - isp providers - ... ?

As it is not related to a specific computer and or device. It can only be the connection to the oudside internet maybe a local block in your modem and or router(s) might be the issue.

Does not seem to be a network issue either. Used skype from my laptop and university network (which is very stable) and had the same problems.
Skype for web also doesn't seem to help. I had it open in parallel with desktop version and someone messaged me on epic saying that I'm offline and not responding. :s

I guess it's purely caused by poor design which starts showing flaws after you talked with too many people and have too many contacts.

I'll first try deleting all of my contacts, but so far I've been failing as they keep coming back over time.

this happens to me only if my skype mobile and skype PC active at the same time.

My new account has grown a lot since I've made it, and I'm starting to experience similar issues. :(
I guess the program is simply not well designed and does not perform well when under so much load.

Oh well, making a new skype every year shouldn't hurt. :D

Strange...I don't have any issues with Skype either on PC or cellphone. I just updated to the newest version and it seems fine. When I open Skype on my phone, just wait for few seconds loading then everything is there.
