Masked Armory -- Named/Anonymous WoW Profiles

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

Over the past month and a half, I have been working on a new armory solution that would rival both mywowarmory and armoryx. It has not been an easy feat, but I believe that Masked Armory offers much more now than the other two armories.

Quick Breakdown of Features:

• Alternate Gear Sets: You are allowed up to 3 alternate character gear sets. By checking the box on the frontpage, you will be taken to a another page where you will be provided instructions on how to add an additional gear set to your profile. The time to add an additional set is dependent on the update on WoW Armory after you change gear sets in game. This is perfect for classes that have multiple specs, PvP gear, Vanity Gear, etc.
• Gearscore Integration/Calculation: I have personally rewritten the Gearscore addon for web use, which I am quite proud of. I was previously pulling the GS from another site and then parsing the data. That slowed the armory far too much.
• Alternate Gear Set Comments: For each additional gear set that you add, you have the option to add a note, which will display at the top of your gear set.
• Reputation Rating Ordering (Exalted -> Hated): On the Reputation Page, you will see that the reputations are listed in the order of Exalted -> Hated. I personally hate visiting armories and not being able to see all of the Exalted, Revered, etc. factions coupled together for easy counting.
• Notable Achievements: On the frontpage of Masked Armory, you have the ability to check the 'Show Notable Achievements' box (does inhibit the load time a bit as it is a rather large pull and query). This will show your achievements such Loremaster, Seeker, 100 Mounts, 75 Pets, Raid 310% Mount Achievements, LK Kills, ALL of your Feats of Strength, etc if you have them!
• Named Profiles: Some people hate listing out gears for different sets on guild applications. Hence the reason this option was provided. This solution enables you to add all of your gear sets to your profile and then shows your character name and server at the top of your profile. Your character name + server link back to your WoW Armory as well.

Level 80 Human Death Knight | WoW Armory Profiles | Masked Armory
Level 80 Gnome Warrior | WoW Armory Profiles | Masked Armory
Level 80 Undead Mage | WoW Armory Profiles | Masked Armory

Other than all of these new features, everything else is the same as other armories.

I have just completed a web conversion of the Gearscore addon (coded in PHP). Instead of pulling the GS from another site, everything is done locally now, which greatly decreases the loading times for profile creation.

Armory is really getting popular. For those of you using Armoryx and myWoWArmory, please take a look at Masked Armory as it shows so much more useful information that the other two sites do not. Also, it is a lot faster for people to view your created profiles!

That's just amazing.

For all you that appreciate technology, Shane also has automated phone number verification as part of his verification before you can go to his trade related forums. Very nicely done. One to watch for cutting edge developments.

I have some big news to announce. Direct pull from Masked Crusader:

I come to you with relatively big news. I can tell you that I stoked with this latest development and I believe you should be as well.

I have been talking with Jacob, head of publicity for PlayerAuctions, for quite some time. He has brought the idea of Masked Armory to his bosses and it seems that the armory solution was well received.

In the coming weeks, PlayerAuctions will be swapping over to Masked Armory as their default armory solution. Also, Jacob will be putting together a news release of the change.

This new partnership could be very beneficial for both Masked Armory and Masked Crusader.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am for the future of MC and MA!

Less than a month later and we are over 8000 profiles. I am getting over 100 clicks a day via Google Adsense. Not complaining

Closing in on 10,000 profiles! Made some changes to the reputation structure as there were several reputation changes with 4.0. Was causing errors for folks. Those have now been resolved!

Due to changes with the new Battle armory, there have been some issues with pulling the new source images for the gear. That has been rectified and everything is working great with Masked Armory now. I am still working on the gear image display to make a bit more attractive. Coming soon

Also, we are closing in on 16,000 profiles made since the start of Masked Armory back at the start of July! Thanks to all of you that have used Masked Armory and continue to use it!

They got picked up as the profiler of choice by playerauctions and are now the default solution.
Good win/win arrangement. It shows what is possible when you work with other companies "coopetition".

Shane also leveraged the power of social media with his site, getting hundreds of users within just a few days by simply having everybody update their AIM status. That alone drove hundreds.
Who'd have thunk it?

In the coming weeks, I will implementing a load of changes to Masked Armory to help streamline and pull some of the new features from the new Battle.net armory. I have been waiting on a more streamlined XML option from Blizzard devs for the armory, but it seems that that is not on their priority list right now. So, guess it is time to XPath the XHTML and have some fun.
