If you have been a "valued member" for a few years, you can ask paypal to cover a lost dispute for free. Don't know how high are they willing to go though, but now I feel bad for (accidentally) wasting it on a 24 usd transaction.

Hehe, yea they covered 2 chargeback fees for me aswell, something like "one time good will" was the message i got

It was about 32Euros and was all done via phone, got a very kind assistant

Yep, also had a $13 one covered...the buyer had CBed 3 months after the transaction

They will give you goodwill to help you out if you are a phone with a rep and they feel you are sincere and polite i have found. They won't give you a $1,000. But they will tell you we can give you "xx.xx" to help you out. They know you are getting screwed in most cases and they value customer service. It might not seem like it when you are losing a case.
