<span style="color: #FFCC00">Someone explain to me in detail about what exactly this is.</span> I've seen some people trying to sell them on the site and they seem like nothing but a complete scam. If you have a Lockerz account your words would be appreciated.

If they are too risky we could make a rule against selling them on the site after an admin/mod vote. But if I am just blowing smoke then we can continue to let people sell them.

It's not a scam, just a site where you can get points doing things and checking out with real life items.

But to really get anywhere with it it's all about the referrals as far as I know. Which is the same with any other affiliate programs that people spam across various forums and websites. i.e. you get 10 people to sign up you gain 1 point or something.

well there are alot of affiliates that use the forums. ive seen quite a few for ttgaming marketing the products for a % on sales that isnt spam they offer a tangible service.

Or are you talking about sites that just refer you to join for bonuses and they convince others to join and so on. with no other product to sell but the membership?

I agree with Btrail tbh , They don't seem to be doing any harm to anyone , though if anyone has any story's , please share.

It's legit, but it's pretty hard and takes a lot of time to get something of value. My friend got some gift cards, etc.

The full site hasn't even launched yet. Technically, Lockerz is still in it's beta phase.

Pretty much , but you could say that for alot of things , most things that are free that seem good end up being a scam on most trading/buying/selling sites.

4chan is amazing , cesspit of the internet , Some of the stuff you can find on there is probably the most disgusting stuff Ive ever encountered

When I was modding the site I would always lock the Lockerz threads, mostly because I hate everything the website stands for, but also because I find the website to be somewhat of a scam. Not a scam in the general sense of the word, but a scam in the light that it forces people to midless refer their peers to the website with little reward.

Lets say if i were to come on to this website and say that I am offering a SWEET NEW KEYBOARD to anyone who can get 100 unique IPs to click on the advertisements on my website. Would you lock that?

No, because you can't really knock somebody else for trying to make money.

And hopefully you would've been proXed while browsing Lockerz/4Chan/Etc.

I know its not ilegitimate, but it just feels grimy to me. Sites like Lockerz just take advantage of desperately stupid and misinformed people (apologies if you use the site). its just a slimy business, and I vote it gets kept off of this website.

I think the deal breaker is whether or not the site is considered a "gaming" site. To me it's more of a social network of referrals, and not really intended to be on these boards.
 
Not gaming related. I've thought about starting something similar though just for thegamesupply users. A points kind of system where if you refer x amount of people you can spend points on Cd keys, accounts what not.

I already have an affiliate program, but the thing about affiliating with other sites, is that you actually have to affiliate with them, which, I'm not really keen on.

I mean more of a "for users only" sort of program where they build up points similar to a referal program.

On topic though, Lockerz has nothing to do with gaming, and this is a gaming site right? If broken english man up there is their spokesperson...well that says it all for me.

As someone noted blindly referring your friends to things is bad. Just like all those "get a free Ipod" things...but all you have to do is refer x amount of people to sign up for memberships to all kinds of worthless things. To me, this is just multi level marketing. Except you aren't selling vitamins or w/e worthless crap most of those sort of companies are selling these days.

Also, the rewards from doing this are minuscule in comparison to the time you put in. I mean, if you really thought about it, you are working for pennies on the hour. I mean, seriously, you could get a job for minimum wage and earn enough to buy your own [censored] faster than you could doing this stuff.

Hell, if you'll work for this cheap, I'll put you to work doing some sort of tasks for us and might even pay you a bit better. definitely would pay better for referrals.
