RIAA wins big in LimeWire lawsuit | Media Maverick - CNET News
LimeWire Gets Pulped by Judge in Peer-to-Peer Music Piracy Ruling - DailyFinance
For those of you who do not know, LimeWire was recently hit big time with providing a means to copy-right infringement. Apparently what crippled their defense is their reluctance to try to create a filter for copy-righted material being shared via their P2P database. For now, the major industries are seeking $150,000 per infringement, which will total around a $450 million tag as of now.
I'm not sure exactly how the end is going to play out, there have been rumors that it is going to shut down operations this coming summer. I'm also unsure about what is going to happen to their CEO, as LimeWire is an LLC, but the judges believe that hiding behind an LLC should no longer be legally available due to the severe volume and intention of the infringements.
I also stumbled upon the list of their management.
The Team - Lime Wire
I was shocked that their top executives come from some of the most prestigious schools in the country, some of which push for the highest level of business ethics (such as Wharton), yet these graduates obviously had no problem working as a team in an industry plagued with illegal activity which has cost other industries (especially the music industry) hundreds of millions of dollars in lost revenues.
