Looking for input on comfortable (mostly ears) gaming headsets around $100 or lower. Isn't a need for it to have surround (real or virtual).
Recently I've tried:
  • Logitech G930
  • Corsair Vengeance 2100
  • Logitech H600

What do you use?

I have had the corsair vengeance and the logitech g930.

I am curently using the logitech g930 and my opinion : the best headset i have ever had. This is actualy my 2nd one. Why?

Pro's
1. Confort around my ears
2. Wireless : but when charing it can stil be used!
3. Surround sound
4. Mute mic on the fly
5. Good distance on the wireless
6. Easy to configure

Con's
1. A bit pricy
2. Sometimes it seems to have probs with turning on when it is charging
3. After a copple 14-15 months of usage the charging seems to take a while longer

Even tough the con's are not bad, logitech has a realy great customer service. When my first headset died after 2 years and 1 month (typical right). I contacted them and told them my issue. Even tough my customer service should have ended they sended me a brand new one.

I've had 3 g930s, 2 were warranty exchanged as they stopped working ( sound would constantly cut out and recconect every 10 minutes), I sold the third after receiving it. Wasn't very comfortable and didn't breathe at all on my ears - would sweat after 15 minutes.

I have 3 close friends who use the g930 headset and none have had these issues you are discribing. I do agree with the breathing part. On realy hot days i tend to sweat. But not just around my ears.

I've found many others with the issues I've had, all through feedback/reviews on newegg & amazon so it's certainly not just me ;)

Check out Qpad QH-90, they are beasts

I'm currently using steelseries siberia v2
Had a razor headset before but can't remember the name and I'm pretty satisfied with the steelseries.

I used the Corsair Vengeance 1500. It hurt like hell for the first few weeks but then it loosened up. I would put it on my tower to help make the headband wear out a little. Now it fits beautifully.

Logitech g930 is probably your best bet for the price you're looking for. If you can go a little more I had Fatality headsets without an issue too.

If your dead set on a gaming headset, I'd also suggest the Siberia V2.

However. I'd suggest a decent pair of headphones with the modmic as well. Depending on your budget, you can definitely find a much better quality pair of headphones + ModMic than you'd get out of a gaming headset itself.

My vote go for Sibera V2 aswell. I recently got my pair and i'm very satisfied.
Got mine in White to match with my Coooler Master Stryker chassi, now i only need to get SWTOR limited keyboard in White + Qpad 5k in White.

White like snow is my theme. I miss Winter already.

This will probably be one of the stranger responses...

My current headset, and by far my favorite I've ever worn, is an Afterglow PDP On the ear headset. There. I said it.
The pads on the ears are amazingly comfortable, the headset has a wide range of adjustable positions, and it glows green. The last one was the selling point for me! :p Some people might say it's bad because it's not wireless, but that just means they haven't tried them. The sound quality is great, the mic captures your voice clearly, and it's just so darn comfy! :) Last, but DEFINITELY not least, the price is great! If I remember correctly, I bought them for $39.99 FULL PRICE. I'm sure if you wait for a sale you could get them as low as $25! There isn't really a good way to end this jumble of text... so... bye.

Edit: Surround sound!!!

IMO the best headsets would be to get some good sound headsets such as the ath m50's and then adding one of those attachable mics to them. Then you get the best sound + relatively good mic.

I prefer Sennheiser hd series instead Razer and Steelseries. Sound louder and clearer.

I can recommend an Razer Tiamat 7.1. It's pretty heavy, but after some months you get used to it.

Additionally i can recommend any wireless astro headset. Good luck!

Just reading through, saw some people posting about the g930s......I had a set that I used for around a year, liked them, had same problems with usb connectivity and so on, but other than that they were decent head phones I thought.......Until I got my Sennheiser hd 598s, then I realized that I was hearing from the G930s were not even comparable. If you go sennheiser you can't go wrong imho after noticing the change from g930 to my hd 598s

I use(d) astro A40 and 50 and find both insanely comfortable and I've always gotten sore ears from headsets and never have with either headset.

I use the Bose QuietComfort 15's. Honestly its like going deaf once you put them on. AND THEN SOUND COMES OUT AND YOUR LIKE, WWUUTT!!?

But on a serious note, they are comfortable, lets in almost absolutely ZERO sound from your surrounding, and then yeah, it delivers excellent sound quality! Although when played on real low volume, it has a ton of bass...

...But who ever said more bass was a bad thing?
