Any guides to fully taking over a Google account?

Hi guys, I recently bought what I would say is a well-used dummy Gmail/Google account that is linked to a game I wanted to play. I'm facing the issue where even after going through every option I can think of in the security panel of the Google account and changing them to my details, every time I try to change a sensitive account detail, Google says there's a suspicious activity detected and wants to send a verification code to the seller's phone number, which I've already replaced with mine and verified it as well.

I had to bug the seller many times for the verification codes in order to change the many details of the Google account, but it's been 24 hours and Google is still asking to send verification codes to the old phone number. Googling the issue shows many users facing the same problem but no real solution. Is there a guide or checklist somewhere to ensure I've fully taken over the account?

I would really appreciate any assistance rendered. Thank you.

You should probably remove previous owner's phone from authorized devices in security settings. Theafter try binding your own mobile phone/device to the gmail account. My clients never asked for further codes after this procedure. Perhaps, your device should be the only one authorized for some period of time in order to provide you with full control over the account. However, last time I faced this issue was 6 months ago so there might be another solution.

Nothing you can do about it.

It's a security feature where the previous phone number lingers on the account for up to a month after being removed and attempting to make any changes to the account will require a code from the old phone number. There's is no way to prevent it.

After your device/browser starts being treated as trusted, which takes a week or two, you'll stop getting that.
